Photography, editing, design and layout by me, for a university project in publishing only, using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
The brief was to produce book covers for two series, one by Charles Dickens and the other any two books from the Beat generation. Each series had to be visually identifiable as a series, and had to reflect themes from each book.
The book covers that follow are my interpretation of two of Charles Dickens’ classic novels, Bleak House (1852) and Little Dorrit (1857). They demonstrate the oppositions found in each of the narratives, that of poor versus wealthy, imprisonment versus freedom, and the social injustices that Dickens was famous for exposing.

Please note: the blurb is NOT written by me: Dickens, C. (2003) Bleak House. Revised edition. Blurb by Bradbury, N. & Eagleton, T. (eds.) London: Penguin Classics (1852). The Penguin logo is property of Penguin Books; I am not affiliated in any way.

Beat generation book covers to follow tomorrow. I’d love to know what you think of these in the meantime!
